Early Life
Amrit Pritam was born in Jorhat, one of Assam's leading cultural and educational centres. From an early age, he developed a strong interest in films, sound, and technology. Although he did not begin his career as a filmmaker, his curiosity about how sound shapes storytelling gradually led him toward the world of cinema. Education
Amrit Pritam completed his schooling in Assam before pursuing higher education at Jagannath Barooah (JB) College, Jorhat, where he graduated with a degree in Physics in 1998. His scientific background later proved valuable in understanding the technical side of sound engineering.
After graduation, he joined the Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Regional Government Film and Television Institute (formerly Jyoti Chitraban Film & Television Institute), Guwahati, where he completed a three-year professional course in Sound Engineering. Beginning of Professional Career
In 2002, Amrit Pritam moved to Mumbai to pursue a career in the film industry. Like many aspiring professionals, he began with technical roles including FX Foley track layering, dialogue editing, pre-mixing, production sound mixing, and sound editing.
