Baharul Islam was born on 16 August 1964 in Goalpara, Assam, India. From an early age, he developed a deep interest in literature, acting and stage performances. Growing up in Assam's rich cultural environment inspired him to pursue theatre as his lifelong passion. Education

Driven by his passion for acting, Baharul Islam joined the National School of Drama (NSD), New Delhi, in 1987 and successfully completed his professional theatre training in 1990.
