Indira P. P. Bora was born in 1949 in Golaghat district, Assam. She developed a passion for dance at an early age and was introduced to the traditional art of Sattriya during her childhood. Education and Dance Training
To broaden her artistic knowledge, Indira Bora underwent extensive professional training in several Indian classical dance forms. She learned Sattriya under eminent gurus including Rosheswar Saikia Barbayan, Ghana Kanta Bora, and Pradip Chaliha. She later joined Kalakshetra, Chennai, where she studied Bharatanatyam for nearly thirteen years under the legendary Rukmini Devi Arundale. She also received advanced training in Kuchipudi from Guru Vempati Chinna Satyam. Her mastery of these three classical dance traditions gave her a unique artistic identity while allowing her to present Sattriya with refined technique and wider appeal.
