In Depth

Garpara Satra is regarded as one of the older religious institutions in the Dibrugarh area and holds significance for visitors interested in Assam's Vaishnavite traditions and Ahom-era heritage. Over the years, the monastery has also faced challenges from riverbank erosion in the Rohmoria region, leading to efforts to shift the institution to a safer location. Despite these challenges, Garpara Satra continues to represent an important part of Dibrugarh's religious and cultural history and attracts devotees and visitors exploring the lesser-known heritage places of Assam.
