Early Life
Savitri Jindal was born into a Hindu Marwari family in Tinsukia, Assam. She spent her childhood in Assam, where she completed her early schooling. Growing up in a traditional family, she learned the values of discipline, hard work and simplicity from an early age. Although she did not pursue a full university degree, her practical understanding of people, business and leadership later helped her successfully manage one of India's largest industrial groups.
Marriage and Family
Savitri Jindal married industrialist Om Prakash Jindal, the founder of the O.P. Jindal Group. Together they built a respected family that includes nine children, consisting of four sons and five daughters. Her sons, Prithviraj Jindal, Sajjan Jindal, Ratan Jindal and Naveen Jindal, later became leading industrialists responsible for managing different companies within the Jindal business empire.
Business Leadership
A defining moment in Savitri Jindal's life came in 2005 when her husband, Om Prakash Jindal, died in a helicopter accident. Following this tragic event, she assumed leadership of the O.P. Jindal Group as its Chairperson. Under her guidance, the group maintained its position among India's leading industrial organizations and continued expanding its presence across steel, power, cement, infrastructure and related sectors.
While each of her sons manages different business divisions independently, Savitri Jindal continues to provide strategic leadership and preserve the values established by the group's founder.
