The Rabha community has a strong historical and cultural presence across parts of Assam, Meghalaya and West Bengal. The museum brings together elements of this heritage through displays of traditional artefacts, clothing, handicrafts and other objects connected with Rabha customs and everyday life. The museum was inaugurated in January 2025 and was developed at an estimated cost of around Rs 1.80 crore. Alongside the museum, an e-library was also introduced, providing digital access to books and learning resources from different parts of the world. This combination of traditional exhibits and modern digital facilities makes the destination relevant for both cultural exploration and education.
The inauguration also included a tribute to King Veer Parshuram, a historical figure associated with the Rabha community and remembered for his resistance against the Mughal Empire.
