Detailed Notes
BTAD was created to provide autonomy and self-governance to the Bodo people within Assam under the framework of the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution. It initially comprised four districts — Kokrajhar, Baksa, Chirang, and Udalguri — and was governed by the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC). This was a significant step in resolving long-standing ethnic and regional demands and remains a crucial chapter in Assam's political history.
