The ninth Sikh Guru associated with the Gurudwara at Dhubri, Assam, is Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. He visited Dhubri in the 17th century during his travels to spread the teachings of Sikhism. The first Sikh guru, Guru Nanak Dev, visited this place in 1505 AD and met Srimanta Sankardeva on his way when he traveled from Dhaka to Assam. Later, the 9th Guru Teg Bahadur came to this place and established this Gurdwara during the 17th century.
According to historical accounts, Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji stayed in Dhubri for some time and engaged in spiritual discourses, inspiring the local community with his message of devotion, equality, and compassion.
The Gurudwara in Dhubri, also known as Gurudwara Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, stands as a sacred site commemorating his visit. It continues to be an important pilgrimage destination for Sikhs and a symbol of harmony among different faiths in the region. Every year, devotees gather here to celebrate Guru Tegh Bahadur’s Prakash Parv and other religious events, keeping alive the spiritual legacy he left behind.
