The Ahom king often referred to as the “Napoleon of Assam” is Suhungmung, also known as Dihingia Raja. He ruled the Ahom kingdom from 1497 to 1539 AD and is remembered as one of the greatest military strategists and administrators in Assamese history.
Suhungmung earned this title due to his aggressive territorial expansion, defense against repeated Muslim invasions, and military reforms that strengthened the Ahom empire. During his reign, he annexed large parts of the Brahmaputra Valley and extended Ahom control far beyond its traditional boundaries.
