The Brahmaputra is the lifeline of Assam, but apart from it, there are several other important rivers that flow through the valleys, forests, and hills of Assam.  The Barak River is the second largest river in Northeast India, it flows through Manipur, Nagaland, Mizoram, and Assam before entering Bangladesh. Originating in the hills of Manipur, it flows through southern Assam (Barak Valley).
