How Many Kilometers Of International Border Does Assam Share With Bhutan?

Assam shares a total of 267 kilometres of its international border with Bhutan. This boundary runs through several districts in northern Assam, including Kokrajhar, Chirang, Baksa, and Udalguri, forming part of the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas.

The Assam-Bhutan border is characterized by picturesque landscapes, forested hills, and river valleys, making it both a strategic and scenic international boundary. It plays an important role in trade, tourism, and cultural exchange between the two regions, while also serving as an entry point for eco-tourism to Bhutan’s southern belt. Security along the 267 km border is maintained by the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) to ensure peaceful cross-border relations and regulate movement. The Assam–Bhutan boundary reflects centuries of cultural ties and geographical interdependence in Northeast India.
