Brahmaputra Cracker and Polymer Limited (BCPL) is located at Lepetkata in Dibrugarh district, Assam. Spread over a large industrial complex, BCPL is one of Northeast India’s largest petrochemical plants and plays a key role in the region’s industrial development.
The project was established as part of the 1985 Assam Accord to promote socio-economic development in the North Eastern Region. Established as part of the Assam Gas Cracker Project, the plant produces polymers such as polyethylene and polypropylene, which are vital for various manufacturing industries. Strategically situated near natural gas sources and transport links, BCPL boosts employment, supports downstream industries, and contributes significantly to Assam’s economic growth.
