The youngest martyr in Assam is widely recognized as Tileswari Barua, a courageous girl from Dhekiajuli in present-day Sonitpur district. She became a symbol of youthful bravery during the Quit India Movement of 1942.
Tileswari Barua, who was 12 years old when she was shot and killed by British forces during the Quit India Movement on September 20, 1942. She was part of a group of freedom fighters attempting to hoist the Indian flag atop the Dhekiajuli police station. She was one of the 13 people killed in the incident at Dhekiajuli.
