The first Ankia Naat written by Srimanta Sankardeva, the great saint, reformer, and cultural icon of Assam, was "Chihna Yatra". It was composed around 1468 AD, and is considered the earliest known Assamese one-act play integrating music, dance, and dramatic performance.
"Chihna Yatra", which means "Visual Journey", was a symbolic and spiritual drama that depicted the divine abode of Lord Krishna through visuals, storytelling, and expressions, rather than elaborate dialogues. This groundbreaking work marked the beginning of the Ankia Naat tradition in Assamese literature and performing arts.
