The Treaty of Yandabo was signed on 24th February 1826 between the British East India Company and the King of Burma, ending the First Anglo-Burmese War (1824–1826). This treaty had major historical significance, especially for Northeast India.
Under the terms of the treaty, Assam, Manipur, Arakan, and parts of present-day Nagaland were handed over to British control. It marked the beginning of British colonial rule in Assam, significantly changing the political and administrative landscape of the region.
