The Assam Science and Technology University was established by Government of Assam under Assam Science & Technology University Act 2009. Within a very short time of its establishment, ASTU pioneered in establishing a Central Research Hub (CRH), a facility which is not common in Indian universities, and the first of its kind in the North Eastern Region of India. ASTU CRH was initiated in 2018 under the TEQIP-III, MHRD.
