The Bhadro month (also called Bhado), according to the Assamese calendar, usually falls between mid-August and mid-September is considered a sacred and auspicious time, particularly for its deep connection to Lord Krishna and the revered Mahapurushas. Bhado is a time of heightened devotion, with Naam-Kirtan (a form of devotional singing) being a prominent practice.
In this month, the auspicious occasions of Lord Shri Krishna’s Janmashtami, the disappearance anniversaries of Guru Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev and Shri Shri Madhavdev, as well as Ganesh Chaturdashi and Shri Shri Vishwakarma Puja are observed. During this sacred month, every Satra and Namghar across the state hosts the Bhadra-month Naam-Prasanga ceremonies. All religious events resonate with the chanting of Harinaam. Daily Naam-Prasanga programs are organized in the Satras and Namghars throughout this month.
It's a period marked by increased devotion, with Naam-Kirtan (devotional singing) resonating in temples and namghars (prayer houses). Bhado is also associated with the Karam festival, a harvest celebration, and is a time for cultural and spiritual reflection.
