Who Was The Founder Of Bodo Sahitya Sabha?

The Bodo Sahitya Sabha, the premier organization for the promotion of Bodo language and literature, is often credited to the visionary leadership of Joy Bhadra Hagjer, who was instrumental in its establishment in the early 1950s. Joy Bhadra Hagjer played a crucial role in mobilizing the Bodo community and advocating for their linguistic and cultural rights.

However, Upendranath Brahma is also celebrated as a pioneering figure in the Bodo literary and cultural renaissance, significantly contributing to the development and standardization of the Bodo language after the Sabha’s formation.

Together, Joy Bhadra Hagjer’s foundational work and Upendranath Brahma’s literary leadership shaped the Bodo Sahitya Sabha into a powerful institution that continues to champion Bodo identity, literature, and education.
