The first Assamese autobiography is titled "Atmakatha", written by Lakshminath Bezbaroa, one of the most celebrated figures in Assamese literature. Although it remained incomplete at the time of his death in 1938, Atmakatha holds the distinction of being the first literary attempt at self-narration in Assamese.
Lakshminath Bezbaroa is regarded as a pioneer of modern Assamese prose and is widely respected as a literary icon. His autobiography provides deep insights into his personal experiences, societal observations, and the cultural backdrop of Assam during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
