The Bodo community, one of the oldest and most prominent indigenous groups of Assam and Northeast India, traces its origins to a rich cultural and political history. While written records about early Bodo rulers are limited. The first Bodo king is often identified as Mahiranga Danava, also known as Mahiranga Danav or Mairang Raja. He is believed to have ruled an early kingdom in the Kamarupa region, which is now Assam.
King Mahiranga Danava is believed to have ruled during the formative stages of early Bodo settlements. Though historical evidence is scarce, Bodo oral narratives and cultural texts celebrate him as a wise and just ruler who laid the foundation for Bodo governance, agriculture, and social structure.
