The first skill university in Assam is the Assam Skill University (ASU), established in 2021. Located in Mangaldoi in the Darrang district, ASU is the state’s premier institution dedicated to skill development, vocational training, and employment-oriented education.
The university was set up under the Assam Skill University Act, 2020, with funding support from the Asian Development Bank (ADB). Its primary objective is to enhance the employability of youth by providing industry-relevant courses and hands-on training in various technical and non-technical sectors.
