The title “Pratimar Khonikor”, which translates to “Sculptor of Images”, is conferred upon Chandra Kumar Agarwala, one of the greatest poets of the Jonaki Era in Assamese literature.
He was known for his masterful use of language and imagery, crafting verses that captured the essence of Assamese identity, beauty, and emotion. His poetic expressions were so rich and lifelike that he was admired as the "Pratimar Khonikor"—a sculptor who carved images with words.
Alongside Lakshminath Bezbaroa and Hemchandra Goswami, Agarwala played a foundational role in the literary renaissance of Assam during the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
