The Mughals first attacked Assam in the year 1615 during the reign of Ahom King Pratap Singha. The invasion was part of the Mughal Empire's expansionist policy under Emperor Jahangir, aiming to bring the eastern frontiers, including Assam, under their control.
The Mughals entered Assam through the western frontier and attempted to capture territory in the Kamrup region. However, they were met with strong resistance from the Ahom Kingdom, known for its disciplined military and strategic warfare.
