Assam's official state anthem is "O Mur Apunar Dex" (O My Endearing Country). It was written by the great Assamese literary figure Rasaraj Lakshminath Bezbaruah, often regarded as the father of modern Assamese literature.
The song was first sung in the year 1909 at the Asam Sahitya Sabha session in Guwahati. Later, the melody was composed by Kamala Prasad Agarwala. Rich in patriotic emotion and cultural pride, this anthem is a symbol of Assamese identity and unity.
