Mahapurush Srimanta Sankardev was born in the year 1449 AD at Batadrava in present-day Nagaon district of Assam. He was a revered saint, poet, scholar, playwright, and social-religious reformer.
Sankardev was the founder of the Ekasarana Dharma and played a crucial role in uniting Assamese society through the Bhakti movement, literature, music (Borgeet), and drama (Ankiya Naat). His legacy continues to inspire generations in Assam and beyond.
